From a young age we are asked what we would like to be when we’re older. I, on one occasion, stood up in front of the entire school at the end of term service in my home church at the time and proudly declared that I wanted to be a bin man.

My rationale at that age was simple, I’d recently started having showers instead of baths and I thought that if I was a bin man I’d get to have a shower every day!

However, I did not become a bin man.

I became…

…whatever I am now.

I suppose a student of theology would be one answer, though perhaps a thinker and ponderer may be a better one.

You see, I’m still young at 21 and I still have a long way to go and many more stories and adventures to live through (I hope!). Whilst I know that I want to serve and be helpful in some form or another I currently don’t know exactly how that will look as yet. But I know that standing still doesn’t get you anywhere, and so day by day, a step at a time, I shall try my best and see where God leads me.

It’s similar with this blog, I feel as though I should do it and share my thoughts and writings but I don’t have an active agenda behind it nor do I have a clear cut vision for what I would like it to be.

At the end of the day this blog is an expression of myself, of who I am and what I think and just as I change and grow and my thoughts refine themselves so shall this blog.

Tolkien summed it up best in a poem which is a personal favorite of mine; The Road goes ever on and on.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
